Brake fluid service includes the exchange and testing of the fluid within the hydraulic brake system on a car. The purpose of brake fluid is to transfer the fluid from the brake pedal through different parts or systems to depress the brake pads by stopping the vehicle. Some conditions could occur that could cause issues with the brake fluid in a vehicle.
At our brake shop (Tega Cay Wash & Lube -NAPA AutoCare Center), brake fluid can be accurately and quickly tested in automobiles by removing the cover to the master cylinder and testing the Brake Fluid. If the copper content of brake fluid is an predictable and accurate means of the condition brake fluid. If there is copper content in the brake fluid then a brake fluid exchange will be recommended.
It’s about the additive package contained in the brake fluid. Unless contamination is in the brake fluid, you cannot judge by appearance only. It may appear dark or not as clean as when it was changed, it doesn’t mean the brake fluid exchange service is needed. The copper content itself will not cause any serious issues, it’s the indicator used to understand the depletion of the additive package.
Tega Cay Wash and Lube (NAPA AUTOCARE CENTER) can perform a brake fluid exchange, not a brake fluid replacement, if any service is needed. This secures the majority of the old fluid is replaced and removed with a fresh brake fluid flush. The exchange will be executed per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
